[00:00:02] Speaker A: Hi, I'm Aisha and I'm a former host of moca Single Mothers by Choice or smcs. Like you, as an smc, I decided to become a mother knowing I'd be the sole care provider and parent for my children. At least at the outset, the MOCA stood for Black. So I'm using the word black and I'll be discussing being a single mother by choice from a black woman's lens. You'll connect with all the interesting and fun things about this non traditional path, like discussing which sperm to use and some hard truths about fertility and the realities of dating as a single mother who doesn't have a co parent to rely on occasionally and what it's actually like to parent as an smc. This is the Black Single Mothers by Choice podcast. [00:00:54] Speaker B: Hey Pod. So if you've noticed some shorter clips showing up here lately, I want to explain what's happening. Black Single Mothers by Choice captured me at the earliest, most tender stages of motherhood. Those early questions, the uncertainty, the decisions you make when everything feels new and heavy. Over time, my story and my arc in parenting just kept moving. My children grew, my capacity shifted, new questions emerged, new approaches to to the conception story emerged. So these conversations now continue over at start to finish Motherhood, where I'm parenting school age children and reflecting on what stayed true to those earlier episodes and then what changed and what surprised me. Because let's face it, you don't know what you don't know until you get there and then you realize that you just didn't know. And so you do things differently once you know the mashup episodes you're hearing are not reruns, they're bridges. And I'm pretty much revisiting early conversations with the clarity that only time and lived experience can bring. So if you're curious about how the story has evolved, how my parenting has evolved, how how my children have grown, that's where you'll find the next chapter. I hope you join me. [00:02:31] Speaker A: Wokod thank you so much for taking the time to listen.
